Schaefer represents lenders and borrowers in large and medium market financing and capital market transactions. He has represented national banks, major finance companies, middle market lenders, and large and medium market borrowers in a variety of finance, capital markets, big ticket leasing, securitization, and mortgage transactions. Schaefer’s expertise includes both cash flow/unsecured transactions and secured asset-based transactions through a wide range of UCC assets and real estate.

Horstmann represents clients in complex litigation matters, including commercial torts and contract disputes, with a particular focus on non-competition and trade secret litigation. She has extensive experience helping clients protect their valuable business assets when an employee or competitor embezzles confidential information or violates restrictive covenants. Horstmann focuses on understanding and evaluating clients’ goals and needs to develop creative and collaborative approaches to obtain strategic and actionable results.

The Foley & Mansfield Foundation has announced the Foley & Mansfield Scholarship and the Stephen Foley Litigation Scholarship for students who have historically been underrepresented in colleges and law school. The primary objective of these scholarships is to provide financial incentives to enter college and law school students from historically underrepresented groups to consider litigation as a future career in law. These grants are also intended to help diversify the supply line of future litigants into the legal profession.
The Stephen Foley Litigation Scholarship was created in memory of the firm’s co-founder, Stephen Foley (1958-2014) and will be awarded to a deserving law school student. Likewise, the Foley & Mansfield Scholarship will be awarded to an exceptional undergraduate student. Both scholarship recipients will receive $5,000 from the Foundation.

Similarly, the company has partnered with the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s High School Mentoring Program and jointly selected a college student recipient who entered 2021. Andrea Padilla is an exceptional student and passionate volunteer who supports immigration rights. Her application, virtual interview, and community service were impressive. Andrea entered her first year at Columbia University in New York City.
