Auburn Outlasts Tech, 59-51 – Women’s Basketball — Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

apartments – The Yellow Jackets cut the score to five points late in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough to beat off Auburn’s strong start as they dropped 18th seed Georgia Tech in their first game of the season on Sunday afternoon, 59-51.

A shooting conflict plagued Jackets (4-1) in the first half, allowing Auburn to build his lead up to 20 points and maintain a 33-16 lead in the first half. After shooting 25.0 percent from the field in the opening two frames, Tech came out and dominated the third quarter, outperforming Auburn 21-11, slowing down her deficit. Tech fired 47.1 percent of the field in third, leading 4-7 from the free throw line and making only one turn. Auburn was kept with a 33.3 percent shootout with no attempts in the charity bar as Tech cut the score to 44-37 entering the last quarter.

While Auburn fired just 27.3 percent in the last quarter, the Tigers converted 9 of 12 free throw attempts to halt Teck’s career. Jackets lowered the score to five points, 56-51, but they couldn’t beat the Tigers at the free throw line.

Lotta Mag Lahtin And Nerea Hermosa Both finished in double digits, contributing 12 and 11 points, respectively. Tech won the fight on the glass for the fifth time this season, 39-29, leading with nine rebounds from Hermosa.

Sadiq Scott Grayson leads all scorers with 18 points, followed by Aisha Coulibaly with 14 points.

The Yellow Jackets return to play on Wednesday, November 24, to welcome Hofstra to their midweek tilt. Tipping is limited to noon on ACC Network Extra.
